Additional Information: Deodorizer distillate of Soybean Oil is a complex mixture of triglycerides, free fatty acids, sterols, tocopherols, hydrocarbons, & other unsaponifiables. Average value of free fatty acid content of soy DOD was found to be 49.61% Peroxidc value of Soy DOD =9.18 meq 02 /kg. It contains about 132.875 mg KOH/g of saponifiable matter and 21.87% of unsaponifiable matter. Relative percentage of major fatty acids composition of Saponifiable matter of soybean deodorizer distillate was found to be Palmitic acid = 25.55% Stearic acid = 3.08%;Oleic acid = 25.27%;Linoleic acid = 39.43%; Linolenic acid = 2.66%. The physico - chemical characterisation of fatty acids free deodorizer distillate showed lower fatty acid content, higher peroxide value, saponifiable matter and unsapoaifiable matter than the soybean deodorizer distillate. Fatty acid content = 3.94% Peroxide value = 56.80 meq 02 /kg Saponifiable matter = 48.03 mg of KOH/g Unsaponifiable matter = 51.95%. The relative percentage of major fatty acid composition of saponifiable matter of fatty acid free deodorized distillate was found to decciate slightly from the fatty acid composition of Soybean deodorizer distillate. Palmitic acid = 20.71%; Stearic acid = 4.44%; Linoleic acid = 40%;Linoleaic acid = 3.00%;Oleic acid = 24.42% 2.5mg% of Tocopherol was found in soybean deodorizer distillate whereas no tocopherol was found in fatty acids free deodorizer distillate.
