Abstract

The extraction procedure for etimation of arecoline in areca nut is lengthy and not suitable for routine use. A method, based on the steam volatility of arecoline, has been standardized: It is simple and rapid for routine estimation of arecoline in areca nuts and arecoline hydrobromide in drugs and gives maximum and consistent recovery.
